Our Masonic Connection
After the Civil War ended, Kentucky Masons envisioned ways to care for elderly Masons, their widows and their orphans. That vision became reality in 1867, when the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home was established in Louisville, the first home of its kind. In 1901, a sister facility opened just east of Shelbyville called the Old Masons Home. In 1993, both Homes merged to become Masonic Homes of Kentucky.
Since our founding, the Masonic Homes has been a non-profit corporation, providing charitable care through gifts from Kentucky Masons and others who want to help make a difference in people’s lives. Our Board of Directors includes Kentucky Masons who are focused on fulfilling our mission and achieving our vision.
The Masonic Homes of Kentucky extends services to all adults, accepting private pay, most long-term care insurance and Medicare.
